We will be having four classroom parties in school this year. This is your opportunity to come in and volunteer or donate something to make our celebration a little more special! Please remember that this is a special time for your Kindergartner and no siblings are to come in on our special party days. This is also due to limited space in the classroom. Only volunteers and people donating items are invited to attend each party. All clearances MUST be on file in our district office in order to join in on the fun. It is a state law in Pennsylvania that this paperwork is on file with the district. Here is a link to the requirements needed to be completed. There are no exceptions. http://c2.derrytsd.schoolwires.net/Page/5092
If you still would like to come in and volunteer or donate something, click on the party planner below to see what you can sign up for and join in on our fun!

Our class room parents have been selected by the PTO committee. Our room parents are Meghan Potts and Jennifer Owsley. A contact sheet will be sent home in the near future for you to fill-out with the information that you would like to be shared on the class list which will be prepared by the room parents. You may use this list to help your little one learn the names of classmates, to address birthday invitations, or to invite a friend for a playdate. The contact information will also be used by room parents to connect with you about class parties and events, including reminders for what you signed-up for at Back to School Night.
A school policy is in effect that ALL VOLUNTEERS, including room parents, must have Child Abuse and Criminal Clearances. The clearances MUST BE taken to the district office once they are completed so that they can be copied and filed prior to your first day of volunteering. Volunteers also need to complete Mandated Reporter Training and TB testing. Please check the my website or the district website under the "Community" tab for specific information and details. I appreciate all of the interest and parent involvement in the classroom. We are going to have a fun year together! Here are a few of our “Ten Apples Up on Top” math projects. Making applesauce with our apples we brought to school!
Wednesday, September 26th is Apple Day in our classroom and each child is asked to bring an apple with them to school! We will be having apple fun across the curriculum with reading books like "Ten Apples Up On Top" written by Theo. LeSieg (also known as Dr. Seuss). We will also be making applesauce with everyone's apple that they bring in to make apple day extra special! I can't wait!
Back to School Night is coming up on Thursday, September 27th. This is such an important night for the kids! They will be showing you all around the classroom and building. The kids can show you things they are working on and everything that is important to them at school. I will have party sign ups for you to sign up and have an opportunity to help out in our classroom. I hope you can make it!
